Our subconscious stores all memories and emotions, preferences and behaviours. It is responsible for ensuring our survival by maintaining all our bodily functions and ensuring that we are able to operate on auto pilot, following the behaviours we have learnt.

Will power can divert long term eating patterns only for the time we remain focused on a goal, however, it may also have to fight other beliefs and behaviours that your subconscious has prioritised as more important. So relax and stop beating yourself up.

You Are Not Weak Willed!

The Stress/Exhaustion/Weight Gain equation:

When we experience stress, our bodies release cortisol and andrenal, stress hormones which can build up in our bloodstream. These hormones can contribute to unsettled sleep patterns and you may  wake feeling  exhausted even if your are having more than 7 hours sleep. Going to bed late and or unsettled sleep are  signals to the body to store weight as a survival mechanism. Our bodies interpret stress in the same way as prehistoric man did… food =survival and for many of us our stress response is to store weight at a time when it is safe to do so;  when we sleep.
